Description
The global leader in making fine art materials is looking for a Product Marketing Manager for its Tokyo office.
You will be working for the worlds biggest fine arts maker with customers throughout 120 countries and used by some of the most famous global artists. The company's head office is based in London with offices all around the world.
This role will require some international and domestic travel.
Responsibilities
- To manage the entire product (current and future) portfolio of the client's products in Japan
- For current products - increase distribution and visibility (location and share of shelf space) of products in-store vs competition. This is done by monitoring current state in all sales channels (online and retail). Grow market share vs competition by setting correct price positioning and benchmarking with key competitors, implement above the line (advertising) and below the line (trade marketing) activities to build brand awareness, communicate Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of products and reinforcing the Reason to Believe (RTB). This will be done via distributors appointed in Japan.
- To plan to launch new products into Japan by market sizing the opportunity, selecting the right distribution channel, getting the right language and label requirements within Japanese regulations, liaising with factories to ensure packaging meets quality standards of Japan, price indexing, preparing launch plans, and monitoring sales execution (distribution and visibility).
- To localize and execute marketing concepts as advised from Marketing business units. To manage the marketing budgets jointly with distributors.
- Key working relationship - distributors, Area Sales Manager for North Asia, FC factory export and marketing managers
Requirements
- Fluency in Dual language : Japanese and English; additional Korean language will be an advantage
- Degree in Economics, Business or Marketing preferred. Other degrees is ok but must be able to demonstrate good commercial & business acumen. MBA will be an advantage
- Minimum 5 years Marketing experience with consumer goods company. Sales, trade marketing, commercial, retail or merchandising managers are acceptable but must be able to demonstrate good product marketing knowledge.
- Good working knowledge of retail trade in Japan ~ key customers, key wholesalers, route to market, retail & wholesale margins, etc
- Personality wise - should be an extrovert and good social skills. Good & demonstratable analytical skills. We want someone who is highly motivated with desire to win and succeed. People who have had competitive sports/debates experience is an advantage. We want someone who has demonstrated an affinity for lifelong learning.
Salary & Benefits
