Our client, a leading global Advertising Agency is looking for a Business Director in Japan.
The HQ is uniquely based in Sydney and has rose up the ranks in recent years recently winning global independent agency of the year in the Campaign Asia Awards. They are not currently based in Japan so this role would be working exclusively the Australia team on the agency side. The work will be with a leading global company that has recently expanded rapidly in Japan working as the lead agency on their advertising campaigns.
As a Business Manager you are THE COG that drives the accounts, which allow the client to realise this purpose through doing and owning the relationships, work and process on a daily basis.
You provide the attention to detail, the rigour and the support for the Team Lead and Business Directors, which allows them to focus on the big picture for clients, hunt for new business, grow revenue for the agency and help the client make work that matters. You also help bring the visions of the Creative Teams to life.
The role can be freelance or full time.
Responsibilities
- Be “the driver”: You are the holder of knowledge. You are in control of the campaigns/projects and ensure that campaigns/projects are on track and are delivered to the highest quality, on time and on budget. You need to think one-step ahead. What’s the next step in the process and how can you ensure that everyone in the team is prepared?
- Be the “point person” between client, business teams and production for the tactical execution of all campaigns. You ensure that everyone knows what they need to know, when they need to know it. You want to have answers to questions before they have even been asked.
- Client Engagement: you gain the trust, confidence and respect of clients through your ability to deliver on commitments and solve problems. You gain their adoration through your relationship building skills and general awesomeness.
- Creative thinking: You understand channels and how ideas execute, and support Creative teams to get to great executions. And they want to work with you / see your value.
- Talent management: You share local insight to navigate agent management, to deliver the best possible outcomes for contract negotiations and talent approvals of the creative.
- Presentation skills: You find a role for yourself in every meeting. You’re confident to speak up in meetings when appropriate. You’re competent at presenting your part when required. You’re calm and clear and well prepared.
- Process & Delivery: You lead projects from end-to-end. You challenge briefs. You keep things moving. You manage budgets and timelines and ensure that everything stays on track. And you support the Business Director and Team Lead so they can also focus on the bigger picture.
- Financial Management: You manage project financials (JCRs, budgets, invoices etc). You proactively identify, flag and seek to solve budget issues.
- Team Work: You help create a highly organised environment to support the Team Lead and Business Directors. You always look for ways to add value to the team.
Requirements
- Can run big complicated projects with minimal involvement of a Business Director.
- Are always thinking one step ahead and always has complete handle on what’s required in the short / medium and long term, ensuring that the project team are fully equipped with the resources and information they need at each stage.
- Has a confident presence is meetings and is able to lead the conversation and think / act on their feet when required.
- Are able to manage full project budgets and reporting across all projects.
- Has built the trust of clients, creatives and the production team as the point person on a project.
- Has excellent creative intuition and champions brilliant ideas by helping bring the right people together, to take an idea from an interesting thought on paper to amazing campaigns that come to life.
- Provides momentum to projects and relationships.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
